Asian Absolute has recently started to support Translators without Borders (TWB), a non-profit organization providing free translations for humanitarian purposes. We allocate some of our time, technology and expertise to maintain the TWB website on a voluntary basis.

Who are Translators without Borders?

TWB is a voluntary organisation whose mission is to increase access to knowledge through humanitarian translations. TWB organises a network of experienced translators and provides an online platform to enable them to provide quality translations to vetted charities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) focusing on areas including health, nutrition and education.

TWB translates over 2 million words per year. You can find out more about TWB on their website: http://translatorswithoutborders.com

How does Asian Absolute support them?

Asian Absolute is taking care of updates to TWB’s website, including details of NGOs and donors. Aileen Yang, Asian Absolute’s Operations Manager in China, finds that “working with TWB is very rewarding, as we can use our professional skills to support their great work”.

We plan to increase our involvement with TWB in the coming months and expect to identify other ways in which we can contribute to this worthy cause.

Why did we choose to support TWB?

Asian Absolute wants to give back to the community by sharing our time and expertise with non-governmental organizations and charities. We believe that TWB is a good match for us, perfectly in line with our core services and expertise, and we approached them to see how we could help fulfill their humanitarian mission.

TWB as part of Asian Absolute’s CSR program

Asian Absolute is developing a coordinated Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. Supporting TWB forms part of this programme, as does the recent creation of a Green Champion team in our Beijing office. We plan to extend the CSR program over the coming years – look out for more news in future newsletters.
